the homeland

The cold weather that has stuck around Atlanta the past couple of weeks reminds me of Washington and my childhood.  The chill that rushes through the air when the sun is still shining makes me smile.  This probably doesn't sound much like the stereotypes y'all have heard [i.e. rain, rain, and more rain], but that's because we Washingtonians like to keep that secret to ourselves, along with the beauty [but seriously...if you haven't been, it's a must].  My trip for Christmas could not come soon enough.

[this last picture is the beach in the neighborhood I grew up in]
